Graduate Resident Meal Plans

 

Graduate Residents are required to choose either this meal plan or one of the three Undergraduate Resident Meal Plans (A, B, or C). Graduate Residents are initially placed in Meal Plan A when their Housing Deposit is received but have the option to change their meal plan anytime up until 4:00 PM on September 17th by emailing Dining Services at diningservices@ric.edu. If you are a graduate resident and wish to change to one of the undergraduate meal plans, please email Dining Services at diningservices@ric.edu.

Dining Services offers a wide variety of food and beverage options at various service stations in DDC that Residents may choose from.

​Free Mobile Dining App Service

Residents are encouraged to download the free GET App to change their Meal Plan option, monitor meal and Flex Point orders, and order ahead. In addition, residents may use the mobile app to order a Convenience Meal or food service should they be required to isolate or quarantine.

Nutritional Services

Nutrition counseling is available to RIC students during the academic year. The services of a Licensed, Registered Dietitian are available to students wanting information on general nutrition, weight management, food allergies, or specific therapeutic diets. In addition to nutrition consultations, dining tours, group classes, and taste demos are other resources provided to enhance your academic and campus life experience. The nutrition office is located in the Faculty Center and appointments can be made by emailing Bethany Tucker (RD, LDN) at btucker@ric.edu.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, all students who reside on campus are required to purchase a meal plan. 

However, graduate students have the option to choose this plan or one of the three meal plans available to undergraduate residents. 

The Graduate Resident Meal Plan provides the opportunity to visit DDC and purchase up to 11 meals per week, each week, Sunday- Saturday, for the designated period.

There are 21 meal periods (opportunities) each week for one or more meals to be purchased, One to three meals can be purchased during any meal zone up to a total of 11 meals each week.

In addition, this plan includes a set amount of Flex Meal Points for the plan period which may be used in addition to and/or in lieu of using a meal.

All meals must be used in the Donovan Dining Center. A variety of offerings will be available during the times listed for each meal period.

Flex Meal Points can be used in DDC or the Cafe during service hours and/or in vending machines on campus. Flex Points are a convenient way to purchase additional food and beverages for a late-night snack or for when DDC is not open for service.

Yes. We do assist residents with special dietary needs. We provide gluten-free and meatless options on a daily basis at both locations. We also support a number of residents who are in need of special diets for medical reasons. Dining Services also offers dietary, nutritional, and related consultations with our Resident Dietitian, Bethany Tucker, R.D., LDN (401) 456-8477 free of charge.

Unused meals do not carry over to the next week. At the beginning of each week, your meal balances are reset. We encourage Residents to plan their schedule accordingly so they may maximize their use of their meal plan.

Flex Points do not carry over at the end of the semester plan period and refunds are not available. We encourage residents to plan accordingly so they may maximize meal plan value. Residents who have difficulties fully utilizing their plan are encouraged to contact Dining Services DiningServices@RIC.EDU.

This meal plan can be used seven days per week in the Donovan Dining Center.

This plan allows you to choose any 5 of the 21 meals offered per week which should eliminate unused meals.
