Vaccine Requirement and Proof

The COVID-19 vaccine is strongly recommended for all students. Students must upload their vaccination card into the Medicat® Patient Portal. (Students can access the portal through MyRIC.) The Medicat icon will allow you to sign in using your MyRIC username (ex: jdoe_9458) and MyRIC password.

If you are having issues logging into Medicat, you can call the Help Desk at 401-456-8803 or email a copy of your COVID vaccine card to healthservices@ric.edu. Additional information on exemptions can be found in forms in the Medicat portal.

Common Student COVID-19 Questions

You can find a vaccine close to you and register for an appointment through the Rhode Island Department of Health.

To show proof of vaccination, students must upload their vaccination card into the MediCat portal on MyRIC.

Students who live out of state are eligible to receive the vaccine at any clinics hosted by Rhode Island College.

RIC strongly recommends that students and non-classified employees be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. However, medical and religious exemptions are no longer required. 

Mask and isolate as much as possible until you have spoken to a nurse. 

Contact the Center for Health and Wellness and speak to a nurse and an a testing appointment will be made for you. You should also self-report using the COVID-19 Positive Student Report Form.

Please Note: Do not ask for testing at Sweet Hall if you have any symptoms. Call the center for health and wellness at 456-8055 (Option #5).

Home COVID tests are for personal use only and should not be uploaded to the Medicat portal on MyRIC. They are not intended for screening and surveillance on campus. Only tests from testing sites or health care providers are acceptable.
