The mission of the Office of Student Financial Aid is to assist students and their families in funding educational costs at Rhode Island College.

Who is my Financial Aid Counselor?

We are committed to removing financial barriers that would otherwise prevent students from achieving their educational goals.

Aid Based on Need

Most of the financial aid available at Rhode Island College is based on financial need. Financial need is simply the difference between your cost of attending Rhode Island College and the amount that you and your family is expected to contribute toward that cost.

Submit Your FAFSA Form

Federal Student Aid [FSA] is education funding from the federal government (Department of Education). Federal student aid funds may cover tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, and transportation. Types of federal student aid include grants, work-study and direct loans.

2024–2025 FAFSA Filing Updates

There has been a significant overhaul of the processes and systems used to award federal student aid, that are aimed at making it easier for students and their families to apply. 

While the 2024-2025 FAFSA is open for students and families to complete, there will now be a delay in the information  being sent to colleges and universities.  The U.S. Department of Education predicts it won’t begin sending students' FAFSA information to colleges and universities until the middle of March.  This will delay Rhode Island College’s, as well as many higher education institutions ability to award financial aid to new and returning students. 

The Office of Student Financial Aid at RIC is preparing to deliver financial aid awards to all eligible students as soon as possible once the FAFSA information is made available to us.
