Credits for Military Training

Your military experience has value — and at RIC, it may help you earn college credit and make progress toward your degree. As a Military Friendly School, RIC recognizes eligible military education and training and offers several ways to receive credit for prior learning.

Does My Military Training Qualify for Credit?

Military training documented through your Joint Service Transcript (JST) or Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) transcript is evaluated for college credit and may be applied toward your degree, generally as elective credit. If you believe your military education or training is directly related to your degree program, you may also be eligible to pursue credits for prior learning and experience through your academic department.

Requesting Your Military Transcripts

Your military transcripts provide a record of the education and training you completed through your military service. RIC can help you obtain and evaluate these records as part of the credit evaluation process.

Army, Marine Corps, Navy or Coast Guard

If you served in the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, or Coast Guard, RIC can request your Joint Service Transcript (JST) on your behalf. You may also request an official copy yourself.

Air Force

If you served in the Air Force, your Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) transcript can be requested with an Air University Transcript Request.
