Academic Procession

 Caps should be CARRIED, NOT WORN, into the auditorium (since the capping ceremony is part of the program).

  • Marshals will be on hand to direct the procession outside. Follow their instructions. Once the faculty has processed into the auditorium, seniors will follow them and will be seated in the Center Section.

Special Note: The academic hood you receive with your regalia should be reserved for Commencement (Hoods are NOT worn on cap and gown day.)

The ceremony will begin promptly at 12:30 p.m. 

Ceremony Details

  • Seniors will assemble at 12:15 p.m. in the Helen Forman Theatre in the John Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts
  • The platform procession will assemble at 12:15 p.m. 
  • The ceremony will begin promptly at 12:30 p.m.


Academic Attire

  • Academic attire is worn for this occasion! 
  • Caps and gowns for the Commencement season if not picked up at Grad Fest can be purchased at the RIC Bookstore- Monday-Wednesday between the hours of 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. and Thursday-Friday 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. The day of Grad Fest the hours will be 9 a.m.- 6 p.m.
