Enrollment Verification

Rhode Island College verifies student enrollment in each registered course by confirming "academic engagement" during the first two weeks of the semester. Enrollment Verification confirms you are in the course/s that you registered for to ensure accurate tuition bills and financial aid.

Spring 2024 Enrollment Verification

The Spring 2024 Enrollment Verification Process begins Tuesday, January 16 (the first day of classes) and runs through Monday, January 22 (the last day to add a course without permission from the academic department).

Steps to Complete Enrollment Verification at RIC.

Please Note: Enrollment Verification applies to all Undergraduate and Graduate students.

  1. Students must connect with their faculty directly in all of their courses during the first two weeks of the semester.
  2. All students must demonstrate academic engagement to confirm enrollment. Academic engagement is active participation in any instructional activity related to the course. (See examples of Academic Engagement). Academic engagement for courses taught remotely is conducted in the same manner as in-person courses.
  3. Students who the College is unable to verify enrollment in all of their registered courses by the deadline posted, will be dropped from all of their courses and withdrawn from the College for the semester, whether or not the semester bill is paid in full.
  4. Students must log in to their MyRIC Student Account and review the Personal Information section. Make any necessary edits and preference updates (including verifying cell phone numbers and adding parent/family email addresses) to prevent missing important text and email communications from the College.
    • As a reminder, a student’s MyRIC username is the first initial followed by the last name, followed by an underscore "_" and the last four digits of the student’s RIC student ID number. If you forgot your password, you will need to set a new password. If you need additional assistance, please contact the ITS Help Center at 401-456-8803 or email helpdesk@ric.edu.
  5. Financial aid recipients must confirm enrollment for funds to be applied to their student account balance or to generate a refund, if eligible.

What is Academic Engagement?

Academic engagement is defined as the following activities, but is not limited to:

  • attending a synchronous class, lecture, recitation, or field or laboratory activity, physically or online, where there is an opportunity for interaction between the faculty and student
  • posting on discussion boards
  • submitting an academic assignment
  • taking an assessment or an exam
  • participating in an interactive tutorial, webinar, or other interactive computer-assisted instruction with a faculty member
  • interacting with a faculty member about academic matters

A Title IV Funding Requirement

Enrollment Verification is required of institutions of higher education who award eligible students Title IV Funding, and ensures accurate tuition bills and financial aid awarding by verifying students are engaged in the course/s that they have registered for.

Please Note:

  • Confirming your enrollment acknowledges that you have been presented with and reviewed financial aid, billing and refund policies as required by Rhode Island College, as well as federal and state agencies.
  • Students who the College is unable to verify enrollment in all of their registered courses by the deadline posted, will be dropped from all of their courses and withdrawn from the College for the semester, whether or not the semester bill is paid in full.
  • Financial aid recipients will not have their financial aid credited to their account or receive a refund, if eligible.
  • If you do not plan to attend Rhode Island College, please send an email to letting us know your plans for the semester.
