Appointment Terms

I understand that as a professional member of the Student Life staff, I will report directly to the Coordinator of Student Union Operations, or their designee. I will not be considered a part of the Student Union Operations Assistant staff, but a member of the professional Student Union staff. This means that I will need to have certain boundaries with the Student Union Operations staff. I understand that specific guidelines and protocols will be given to me during SUGA training to help ensure a successful tenure in this position.

I understand that over the course of an academic year, this position is 20 hours a week, and time will consist of both hours spent in The Student Life Hub, at Student Union events, and maintaining the Student Union. I understand that this position may include hours spent during evenings and weekends if needed. I understand that second to academics, the GCA position will be my highest nonacademic priority. I will not make any significant time commitments without the approval of the Coordinator of Student Union Operations. I understand that Rhode Island College, through the Department of Student Life, may terminate or suspend this appointment at any time and for any reason including if the College determines in its sole judgment that the continuation of the appointment is not in the best interests of the College.
