Dr. Julie R. Horwitz

After serving as a volunteer teacher educator in the U.S. Peace Corps in The Republic of Kiribati, Dr. Horwitz moved to the Navajo Nation to teach 5-12 grade. While directing the MAT program at Western New Mexico University – Gallup Graduate Studies Center she co-directed the Peace Corps Fellows program. During her ten year tenure at WNMU she was promoted to Associate Professor. Moving to RIC was a big shift from the southwest. During her time at RIC she has taught many courses, coordinated the partnership with Central Falls School District and is currently the director of both Middle Level Education and The Advanced Studies in Teaching and Learning Masters program.
