Dr. Justin DiLibero serves as the Dean of the Zvart Onanian School of Nursing at Rhode Island College. A distinguished educator and academic leader, Dr. DiLibero brings extensive clinical and leadership experience to his role. His clinical background includes service as a Critical Care Nurse and Clinical Nurse Specialist in medical, surgical, and neuroscience intensive care settings.
Dr. DiLibero has held numerous academic appointments at both undergraduate and graduate levels. His leadership roles have included Director of the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program, Chair of the Graduate Nursing Department, and Interim Dean of the Onanian School of Nursing.
At the national level, Dr. DiLibero is Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Clinical Nurse Specialist Institute and serves as a representative to the Licensure, Accreditation, Certification, and Education (LACE) Network. He served as past president of the New England Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists, past member of both the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses and the AACN Certification Corporation Board of Directors and has served as an item writer for the Acute Care Clinical Nurse Specialist – Adult/Gerontology board examination.
An accomplished researcher and speaker, Dr. DiLibero has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and is a frequent presenter at national conferences. His contributions to nursing have been recognized with multiple honors, including the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Excellence in Medical Critical Care Award, the Excellence in Advanced Practice Nursing Award, and the Rhode Island College Exceptional Faculty Award. In 2022, he was named Nurse of the Year in an Academic Setting by the Rhode Island State Nurses Association. That same year, he was inducted as a Fellow of the Clinical Nurse Specialist Institute. He is a Fellow in both the Clinical Nurse Specialist Institute (FCNS) and of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN).
Dr. DiLibero holds a dual Master of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati, with specializations in Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Clinical Nurse Specialist and Nurse Educator, and an earned Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree from Northeastern University, with a focus in systems leadership.
