Dr. Vilna Tejeda is an assistant professor at Rhode Island College, School of Social Work. She is an independent licensed clinical social worker. Dr. Tejeda is the Co- Director for the Latinx/Hispanic Center of Excellence for Social Work Practice at Rhode Island College. She has ten years of experience as a school social worker, an MSW clinical supervisor for Rhode Island College, and a BSW supervisor for Providence College. Most of her experience is with the educational system, the juvenile legal system, and community mental health. Vilna has experience in promoting employment and housing equity opportunities and policies. Vilna has worked with populations such as the homeless, immigrants, refugees, and other oppressed groups. She has worked as a school social worker, renal social worker, and as a social justice activist. Dr. Tejeda earned her doctorate from Simmons University and her Masters from Rhode Island College School of Social Work.
