Are you motivated to learn new skills and secure employment? This Medical Assistant Certificate Program may be perfect for you, as long as you're 18 years or older, have a high school diploma or equivalent, are considered unemployed/underemployed/dislocated worker, and you can provide a RI BCI Background Check. The program is free to those who are eligible, or $7,500 for those who do not meet eligibility requirements.

Preparing You for Employment

The Medical Assistant Certificate of Continuing Study (CCS) prepares students for a career as a medical assistant, with competency and confidence in:

  • Administrative Procedures (Reception, Scheduling)
  • Anatomy, Physiology, and Physiology (basic)
  • Clinical Procedures and Skills
  • Communication Skills: Communication for Medical Assistants
  • Computer Skills: Digital Literacy, Electronic Health Records
  • CPR Certification
  • Customer Service
  • Healthcare Law and Ethics; HIPAA Training
  • Math (in medical context)
  • Medical Terminology
  • Pharmacology (basic)

Eligible graduates are able to sit for the National Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam.

14 Week Program

There will be 14 weeks of classwork followed by a minimum 120 hour internship over 5-6 weeks.

  • Classes: Monday–Thursday, 9 am–3 pm
  • Clinical Internship: 120 hours (after successfully completing all classes)
