What to Expect at Our Workshops

We're offering 5, daytime, week-long workshops from June 22–26, 9:30 am–3 pm, that are open to students (14 years or older) and adults. Workshops are specific to instrument type and focus on trumpet, low brass, woodwinds, percussion, and voice. Each day will consist of: warmup sessions, master classes, and ensemble rehearsals.

  • Register before April 15 = $350 for Students, $400 for Adults / week-long workshop
  • Register after April 15 = $400 for Students, $450 for Adults / week-long workshop

Workshop Details

For all of our workshops, you are not required to submit audition materials but are expected to demonstrate proficiency on your instrument. Registration will be capped at 16 for the instrument workshops and 20 for the choral workshop. Private lessons are available for a fee.

Trumpet Workshop

Led by RIC Professor Joseph Foley (Principal Trumpet of the Rhode Island Philharmonic and Portland Symphony), the Trumpet Workshop will be a fun and interactive exploration into the world of the trumpet, with focus on tone production, warmups, fundamentals, repertoire, and ensemble playing.

Low Brass Workshop

Join us for an engaging Low Brass Workshop where students collaborate with artist educators Tom Gregory (tuba/euphonium) and Alexei Doohovskoy (trombone/euphonium). Explore practice techniques, refine performance skills, and gain insights into musicianship in a supportive environment

Woodwind Workshop

Led by Ian Greitzer and Dr. Mary Ellen Kregler, this Woodwind Workshop helps flutists refine skills and deepen musical understanding. Classes cover tone, breathing, posture, technique, and practice strategies. Students play in a flute ensemble and receive feedback in masterclasses.

Percussion instruments

Percussion Workshop

Join Directors Piero Guimaraes and Michael DeQuattro for our summer intensive Percussion Workshop. We will explore timpani, mallets, snare drum, world drums and much more through engaging and interactive master classes as well as percussion ensemble.

Vocal Workshop

The Choral/Vocal Workshop will help you effectively develop your voice through concepts and exercises related to breath support, resonance, registration, diction, ear training, and sight singing. Apply what you learn to vocal solos, duets, trios, quartets, and chorus. Taught by Dr. Donald St. Jean.
