Are you/were you in the RI Foster Care System? If so, our Foster Care Youth Scholarship Program may be right for you. If you are accepted – your tuition and fees and room and board will be fully covered. We're working hard to remove higher education financial barriers for Rhode Island's foster care youth!
At Rhode Island College this is possible and it's referred to as prior learning assessment, or PLA. Find out about the many ways you can earn college credit for learning gained outside the traditional classroom.
Apply Now, by submitting our Rhode Island College Transfer Application and $50 application fee.
Submit Official College Transcripts – from all college(s) attended.
Submit Final High School Official Transcript – if you are a transfer student with under 24 college credits.
Transfer applications will be reviewed when all transcripts are received. Decisions for transfer students are based on their college-level academic record. Transfer students with 24 or more earned college credits in a diversified program of study must have earned at least a 2.0 GPA.
Please Note: Transfer students are not eligible for the Hope scholarship. Eligibility guidelines can be found in our Hope Scholarship Policy Manual.
Have You Previously Attended RIC?
In many cases, undergraduate degree candidates who withdrew from RIC and did not attend another college or university during their absence, are eligible to re-register through the Registrar's Office, without completing a formal application.

Transfer Credits
You may transfer up to 90 credits from a regionally accredited college or university for courses in which you have earned a grade of C or higher, as long as the courses are comparable to what is taught at RIC.
You will receive a preliminary, unofficial credit evaluation upon acceptance to Rhode Island College. An official evaluation of transfer credit will be completed by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for all students once they enroll at the college.
Students may view a list of corresponding courses using RIC’s Transfer Evaluation System (TES). Students transferring from CCRI or URI are advised to visit the state transfer website for more information regarding transfer within the RI state system.
Prior to acceptance, applicants may log in to Transferology, and see how their classes will transfer to Rhode Island College.
Credits from CLEP Exams
Rhode Island College also accepts proficiency credit awarded through the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) tests. Get more information on CLEP credits.
