Right off the quad, the Student Union is the heartbeat of student life on campus, a place of chance encounters, late night study sessions over pizza, and an unwavering RIC spirit that echoes in its halls.
Monday–Friday: 8:30 am–4:30 pm
The Student Union is also home to Student Activities, the Military Resource Center, and Student Union Programming. You can get a quick bite at the Beestro on the lower level while you check your mailbox, and then head upstairs for the Student ID office and our bookstore. There’s a sky bridge that connects the Student Union with our Dining Hall, where you can also find the Unity Center. Right behind the Student Union is our campus Media Center that houses the student newspaper, The Anchor, our radio station WXIN, and Anchor TV.
Rhode Island College provides opportunities for students to be agents of change and positively impact others and their communities through leadership development and service to others. RIC offers many opportunities to gain valuable leadership skills throughout campus.

Our students serve others in a variety of capacities through their time working at jobs and internships, providing assistance to friends and family members, volunteering with community service organizations, and participating in campus involvement programs. Their many contributions embody the mission of the College to promote civic engagement and public service, which leads to the enrichment of the entire community.
This award ceremony is intended to recognize students of Rhode Island College who have demonstrated leadership potential both on and off campus. The Office of Student Life has the privilege of honoring exceptional students for their impact as leaders within our College, state, and global communities. These awards celebrate students who display good character, respect, dignity, inclusiveness, professionalism, and compassion.
Presented to student organizations that have formed successful partnerships with local, national, or international organizations in an effort to make a positive impact on society. These organizations are in good standing with Student Community Government, Inc. and Student Activities, and demonstrate the following qualities:
A feature program offered is the Emerging Leaders Program, helping students realize their potential and participate in interactive workshops and experimental learning opportunities. Emerging Leaders will provide students with the foundation to develop, both personally and professionally, skills to network, define their goals and become a more successful global citizen.
Student Leadership Weekend is planned by students from the Emerging Leaders program and is designed to give Rhode Island College students the opportunity to meet new people, gain leadership skills and enjoy a weekend away from campus!
The program is FREE to students!
