The Department of Special Education is designed for educational professionals interested in the teaching, learning and human development of individuals with special needs.
The Department of Special Education will prepare you to provide instructional and behavioral/social support to individuals with special needs. Each of the programs within the department helps you appreciate and understand the unique abilities, interests and talents of individuals with special needs and develop proficiency in working with them and their families. This understanding is essential in order to constructively participate in the lives of individuals with special needs and to effectively advocate on their behalf.
Rhode Island College is an exclusive member of the Common Application. All students applying for undergraduate admission must complete the Common Application. This includes freshmen, second degree students, re-admits and international applicants.
